You have created your ad, posted it online, and are beginning to receive applicants. What’s next?
The recruiting landscape has changed a lot over the last 2 years. Regardless of what kind of candidate market we find ourselves in, there is one very important step we can take to be a cut above the competition: Communicating with our candidates. Strive to offer potential candidates the same quality experience you provide your customers; they are “interviewing” you too.
A few recent surveys found:
- When job seekers have a bad candidate experience, 42% of them would never apply to that company again and 22% said they would tell other candidates not to work at that company.
- A positive candidate experience makes candidates 38 percent more likely to accept a job offer, but 63% of candidates say most employers do not communicate adequately.
Communicate within first 24 hours of the candidate applying to get off on a good start. You can utilize phone, email, texting software, etc. Set reminders for yourself to reach out, or utilize an ATS like IdealTraits that has all of the follow-up capabilities built into the platform. Engaging with your candidates in a timely manner may be the newest step in your recruiting process, but it certainly doesn’t have to be the most difficult.
