IdealCharities is an IdealTraits employee-driven charitable fund, used to support charities and organizations important to our employees. Participating employees vote on a charity to support each quarter of the year. Be the Match was suggested to the IdealCharities team by Sales Representative, Diana Tan. Keep reading to learn more about why this charity is so near and dear to her heart.
Be the Match has been managing the most diverse bone marrow transplant registry in the world with the mission to cure life-threatening bone cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. Be the Match is a non-profit organization that provides education, ground-breaking research, new technologies, and patient support to save the lives of those diagnosed with blood cancers. Be the Match was founded by Sherry and Robert Graves, D.V.M after their 10-year-old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. She was the first to undergo a bone marrow transplant from a donor that was not related to her. Last year alone, there were more than 111,000 blood stem cell transplants and 6,287 transplants thanks to Be the Match.
Why did you feel it was important for IdealCharities to support Be the Match?
The values of IdealTraits perfectly align with the goals of Be The Match. Raising awareness of how easily one painless donation can save lives and improve the well-being of others is so important.
What is your connection to Be the Match?
In 2019, I donated bone marrow anonymously to a sick infant with a blood disorder.
Do you have any personal anecdotes you’d like to share about Be the Match?
They treated me really well when I did my first donation in 2019. It was a really quick and painless procedure and the Be the Match representatives made sure I was always comfortable.
